Cigar, pipe & rolling tobacco taxes in Korea

The 70Cigars calculator brings weight and import costs into one view. For Korean personal imports, add cigars, pipe tobacco or rolling tobacco as separate entries, then review duty, VAT and tobacco-related taxes using your shipment details.

Know your allowance

The consignment's full product value must not exceed USD 150. Cigars must also be within 50 sticks, or other tobacco within 250 g. Exceeding either condition brings the full customs value into taxation—not just the excess.

This guide retains the small-amount individual consumption tax convention reported by customers: the assessed excise is excluded below KRW 10,000. At whole-gram weights, that includes cigars up to 163 g and pipe or rolling tobacco up to 476 g. This is separate from duty/VAT relief, and customs confirms its application.

Cigar weight calculation & tobacco net weight

Cigar weight depends on length, ring gauge and shape. Where a measured weight is unavailable, our model uses 16 measured cigars and a tapered-shape adjustment to estimate net weight. The ±15% weight scenario is an indicative model assumption, not a guaranteed error bound. For pipe or rolling tobacco, enter the pack’s stated net weight in ounces or grams.

Assess the entire consignment, including accessories. Non-tobacco items need a separate item-specific calculation. Local forwarder shipping counts toward the USD 150 allowance; separately stated international shipping does not.
